We equip people with the tools needed to have a voice in government. We recruit and unite concerned citizens to hold our government accountable and advance policies that benefit citizens over bureaucracy.

With activists and volunteers across the state, we worked tirelessly, knocking over 950, 000 doors in 2024 alone! We advocate for limited government at the local, state, and federal levels.
One of the primary ways AFP works to hold our elected officials accountable is by hosting phone banks to call their offices. In 2024 we made over 500,000 calls for legislation that directly impacts you.
We regularly hold outreach events all across the state, partnering with aligned government officials and other organizations. 2024 was no different- we hosted nearly 300 events to educate and empower Michiganders.
We invest in Michigan from doors to phones to mailings – we actively advocate for local, state, and federal government policies and candidates. In 2024, we invested nearly $17 million for freedom and limited government in our state.

For too long, Michigan has suffered under bad policies that hurt our economy, raise our cost of living, and weaken our schools. The result? Fewer jobs, shrinking paychecks, and families struggling to make ends meet. Instead of fixing these problems, big-government politicians keep pushing high taxes, wasteful spending, and overregulation that make things worse.
We Must Fix to Cure Michigan
Reduce the State Income Tax
Many states have or are in the process of lowering their state income taxes. Michigan, however, has remained high and has not changed since 2012! It is time to get serious about keeping Michiganders IN Michigan, and to do that, we need to lower our state income tax to a competitive level.
Transparency in the State Budget
We want Michigan to be a state that welcomes young families, new college graduates, and small businesses. To create welcoming communities, we need a more transparent budget process, and it’s time to hold our legislature accountable. This doesn’t just mean approving budgets on time – transparency will allow Michiganders to know WHAT is in the budget and WHY. There should be nothing to hide when it comes to taxpayer dollars. Transparency is fundamentally essential to our system of government!
REINS Act
Government bureaucrats have increasingly invaded our daily lives, telling us everything about what cars and appliances we are allowed to own, what types of food we can purchase, and how everyday Michiganders are allowed to do their jobs. This is not right! We must return authority where it rightfully belongs – back to the representatives that WE elected. Once signed into law, REINS will require legislative approval for all new major rules and regulations that state departments and agencies want to implement. This will dramatically change the way things are done in our state and restore freedom to our daily lives.
Right to Work
Michigan proudly joined the worker freedom movement in 2012, but due to shortsighted decision-making by our state government in 2023, it was repealed. Unfortunately, we must fight this fight again, so Michigan can once again be competitive in today’s economy. It is simple common sense, and we look forward to supporting this effort moving forward!
Educational Freedom
Michigan will never realize its full potential until we cut the bureaucratic red tape and allow innovation and creativity to be the standard for all Michigan students. This means developing a system that is student-focused and not institution-focused. Until we are willing to make some tough and necessary reforms, we will continue to fund a system that hasn’t been working.

In 2024, AFP Michigan achieved remarkable outreach by knocking on 953,551 doors, making 557 656 phone calls, and hosting 299 events across the state. These efforts were dedicated to advocating for meaningful changes in state policy and legislation.
